How it works
  • 01The Sky View Factor (SVF) is the share of the sky that can be seen from a point once buildings and trees are taken out. It matters for urban heat and daylight. The scene above sends a ray to every patch of a half dome around a point: a patch of sky is shaded, a patch behind a building stays empty, and the factor is the shaded share.
